I was just reading the blog page of Laura Meengs.  As you may or may not know, Laura visited the Mission Outreach Center recently to help inform us about the Imagine No Malaria campaign the United Methodist Church is supporting, through the United Nations and the World Health Organization.  It was a bit of a blustery evening, but Laura was enthusiastic as ever and stated that being from Ann Arbor, Michigan, she was no stranger to snow or deer, and the drive to Westford UMC was a piece of cake for her.  I sometimes think "Youth" is wasted on the young....
Anyway, Laura is now off to Zimbabwe, to the village of Nyatira to aid in the teaching of how to use, and the distribution of bed nets to fight off mosquitoes in the "war" against malaria.  I admire her "advent"-urous spirit, and that of our Bishop and cabinet members who are on the mission trip with Laura.  One of these days, I envision traveling there to help in the fight against malaria, and to see first-hand how our donations towards the Imagine No Malaria campaign have benefited the people.
I believe this campaign against human suffering to be a "God thing," and am excited to be a contributor in the fight.  My wife and I are looking forward to the day when malaria has been eradicated from planet earth, and can say "we helped."
What are you doing adventurous this Advent season?  Merry Christmas and happy new year!
